Who I am

My name is Jay Dawson and I am a student soon to be studying a degree in the heart of the North East – Newcastle. For the last three years photography has been a big part of my life. A photograph can speak a thousand words and with modern technology, has the potential to last forever. Since the start of photographic journeys, I have specialised mainly in live artist photography which involves meeting bands, squeezing through rowdy crowds and shooting til’ past midnight. It may sound like a chore but it’s something different to me, it’s a passion.

 

What I do

Band photography is so close to my heart that I have stretched out and broadened my horizons by adding more services to my approach. As an aspiring journalist, I like to bring out the most interesting aspects of things I see and hear. I now do write ups of bands commenting on live performances, albums, and in-band attitudes and ideas. In July 2011 I began preparation for my own online magazine. This is soon to be live and will have a selection of the latest and hottest reviews, photographs, and music the North has to offer.

As well as band photography I have experience with modelling and portraiture, having snapped in both Studio and Location environments with a selection of couples, families, models and musicians.

I provide a professional and affordable service and I value punctuality, organisation and customer relations. There’s always been a need for photographs. To capture a moment, to send a message, to impact, to promote, and to remember the days and nights you don’t want to forget.
